Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)



    • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has been launched to protect farmers from crop loss due to natural disasters, pests and diseases. Under this scheme, farmers get insurance coverage, so that they can get financial assistance in case of crop loss.

      Launch of the scheme:

      Objective of the scheme:

      1. To provide financial assistance to farmers in case of crop loss due to natural disasters, pests and diseases.
      2. To keep the income of farmers stable.
      3. To encourage innovation and adoption of modern technologies in the agricultural sector.
      4. To enable farmers to repay loans and give them financial security.

      Disasters and risks covered:

      1. Pre-Sowing Risk: Loss of crop due to bad weather before sowing.
      2. Standing Crop: Natural calamities (hailstorm, flood, drought, cyclone, landslide, lightning etc.).
      3. Post-Harvest Loss: Loss of crop within 14 days of harvesting (due to flood, cyclone etc.).
      4. Local calamities: Fire, lightning, hailstorm, landslide etc. in a particular area.

      Who can apply?

      1. Voluntary registration: All farmers (owning land or cultivating on rent).
      2. Loanee farmers: Insurance is mandatory for farmers who have taken agricultural loan.

      Benefits:
      Maximum insurance coverage to farmers at minimum premium.
      Prompt compensation in case of crop damage.
      Financial stability and increase in agricultural production.

      How to apply?
      1. Online application: Apply by visiting pmfby.gov.in.
      2. Common Service Center (CSC): You can apply by visiting the nearest CSC center.
      3. Bank: Farmers who have taken loans can apply through the bank.

      Bank Passbookv Farm Details (Khasra Number etc.)
      Proof of Crop Sowing

      How to Claim Insurance Amount?

      1. Crop Damage Report: Inform the local agriculture officer within 72 hours.
      2. Inspection: A survey of crop damage will be conducted.
      3. Compensation Distribution: Based on the survey, compensation will be sent directly to the bank account.
